The real question is when is anyone going to stand up and do something about
all of these compromized zombie PC's on the internet. Have any of the news
services actually published headlines about infected zombie PC's being
cleaned up and removed from the zombie pool? I'll bet I know why because it
hasn't happened, and won't, for quite some time.
There are still an awful lot of them out there, and plenty of zombie bot
masters willing to take them over if one should fall and leave a void.
It's all well and good expecting people to be informed by authorities that
their PC is infected, however, the larger problem is that of educating users
and getting them cleaned up by the user or having a computer expert do it
for them, which costs money whether it be the government, ISP, or user
paying for the clean-up job.
These PC's all have physical locations, however, I can hardly see a judge
willing to issue cleanup orders for over a million PC's. I'll bet it's even
less likely that anyone would want the job of carrying out those cleanup
orders if they were ever issued.
Cheers ...
