Thanks for your input.
Yes you have read the header correctly.
I do have your link and another in Favourites re instructions as to using 
message rules.
I have no message rule re selecting spam and diverting it into a special 
folder although I am aware that this can be done(though useless for the .gif 
spams) which my IP/ISP are still intercepting.
One of the things I was wondering was who/what/how that [SPAM] is getting 
there.
The other was why am I getting spam addressed to other email addresses.
