So, using a long alphanumeric name that has been used before and been
spammed is likely to be spammed again. But, even if it is not truly random,
unless you used it before, it is unlikely that someone else has used it
before. Though I suppose there are certain combinations that might be more
likely than others - a name spelled backwards, for instance.
The fact that viruses harvest email addresses also increases the probability
that an email address has been picked up by the spammer. That's how my last
email address started getting spam. And all those random addresses from
sneakemail that have started to get spam would add to the probability too.
Oh, well. As I said before, IMHO, the only thing to do is to block those IP
addresses from where the spam comes. Because there is only one thing to do
in that case, the sender has to find another way to email or complain to his
ISP. Nothing gets lost; the receiver doesn't have to sort through umpteen
emails and possibly miss one or whitelist every correspondent. And end
users will learn pretty quickly what to do - or, at least, their ISPs will.
