Not even trying to say o cnjecture whether I am competent or not.
Just noting
that I made some configuration changes to the newsgroup archiving
tool. In the
interest of 'being nice' to those that might have wanted to
transition from the non-
working old/original mailing-list/archiver, there was an option on
the current server.
"Send mail to poster when their posting is held for approval?"
No/Yes
That was Yes, with modified content that 'subscribing' was not an
option at this point, and therefore, there was no way that the
submitted post was gong to go anywhere ... suggestion being to hit
the newsgroups directly.
That a change was required became clear when not only was I having
to handle the spam itself, this one was generating bounces due to
the 'address not existing' at the lottery.nl server ....
Trying to be nice to those that may have wanted to transition from
the old archiving system, yet ... turning out to then end up being
guilty of sending out e-mail using bogus Return: / Reply-To:
addresses provided by the spammer ....
(this includes a partial extract from a post I made elsewhere on the
Forum ... dialog
there was bout the fact that the 'mailman' control/admin address has
signed up for
a PayPal account, won a couple of Lotteries, and in dire need of
some major body-changing drugs, based on the crap I've had to handle
just this last week alone ....)
