The problem is: 1) What was released to the press is not a birth certificate. It is an ABSTRACT (a computer printed copy that indicates that there is a certificate document on file). It came from a database. It's merely certification that there is a certificate. There is no Doctor's signature. (An abstract is not a forgery unless it represents a fact that did not occur.) Therefore, it is incomplete on its face and not evidence of natural-born citizenship. 2) Hawaii's law at the time for the issuance of birth certificates did not match the qualifications for citizenship - as non-citizen births outside of the state were also permitted to be recorded. Therefore, without disclosure of the actual place of birth within Hawaii (or other U.S. state, territory, possession, registered ship or aircraft, military base, embassy/consulate, etc.), a Hawaiian abstract of birth from that era FAILS to confirm citizenship. Only a PROPER certificate can confirm it. 3) Even if natural born, there's the issue of whether he retained or surrendered his citizenship while in Indonesia. Indonesian law states that when he was adopted, he loses other citizenship, and furthermore, the only way he could attend their public schools is if the ONLY citizenship he had was that of Indonesia. The regaining of citizenship later in life becomes a naturalized citizenship, not one of natural birth. His Indonesian school records list his ONLY citizenship as that of Indonesia, not dual-citizenship with the U.S. U.S. law permits loss of citizenship by children naturalized to another country. Either he lost his U.S. citizenship (if he ever had it, and thus his presidency is a fraud) or he retained it (assuming he had it to begin with) and defrauded Indonesia. Either way, he's commited identity fraud, a felony, and that is grounds for impeachment and removal. My mother was dx'd with ALS about a month ago, and the amount her condition deteriorated while my sister, the geriatric nurse practitioner, said NOTHING to me, was shocking. I saw her in two week increments and my jaw was on the floor at how bad she had become. She watched my mother walk around not able to hold herself up, dragging one leg, and let her get in her car and go to work like that. WTF??? Now she won't do anything to help my mother unless she specifically asks, (she has never asked for help in her life), so here she is staggering around with a walker, dragging around her vacuum cleaner and getting exhausted. But my sister thinks it's important not to take away her independence by doing things for her. GRR. I'll be going over to clean tomorrow night, and she's relieved because the last time she did vacuum she said it wiped her out. Glad your father is better, or at least I hope that's the real story. Anybody > else? :) As with most well done prequels, this movie stayed pretty "true to the storyline and premis of the original show". This is something that even die-hard fans of the OST will appreciate while still being given the "little bit better stuff" history that we've come to understand and expect from a prequel. In this show, they created a paradox that is a break from the normal original show vs prequel timeline we've grown accustomed to, however the paradox does open the door to the exploration of a "new frontier" and because of that, they again remained true to the show. I for one found the movie quite enjotable and fully intend to buy the dvd when it comes out. just mho.. For example, in some military or disaster triages, you may be put into the 'expectant' category, which like those who only have some scratches, are provided no care. Those scratched don't need care, they can go back into battle. Those expectant don't need care they are going to die. That is, under the situation, you are expected to die and scarce resources are being directed to those who are not so expectant. Or, not a candidate for surgery can mean, "You definitely have a lot wrong with what is inside your head, but there's nothing useful we can do about it surgically." Most states issue their birth certificates (technically, "certified copy of birth record") in that manner. You can't even get a copy of the original document in most cases, those having been disposed of once the records were digitized. The document I use when asked to produce a birth certificate is just such a document. I was born in 1957, the certified copy was issued in 1976. It was accepted when I applied for and received a passport in 1976, and has been accepted repeatedly by all levels of government as legitimate in the intervening years. That's some fucked-up thinking there, dude. And a U.S. citizen can not passively "surrender" his citizenship; he must actively _renounce_ it. A six-year-old child is not considered legally capable of renouncing his citizenship, nor can his parents renounce it for him. So Obama did not "regain" his citizenship when he returned to the U.S. for the simple reason that he never lost it. -- D.F. I think if I were 80 and had Alzheimer's, I wouldn't mind 'just dying' if my death blow were reasonably certain and relatively swift and not too horrible, but if I were 80 and had Alzheimer's and a subdural hematoma, I think I would want someone to bore a hole in my skull and let some of that pressure off. There they are clearly marked, look speed camera here, and they are pretty obvious too. Stupid policy too around them. Generally I think speed cameras are fine, especially after riding around on a bike for a few years and seeing how vulnerable other road users are to speeders. But lots of times you have to have a few deaths in a section before they go in, then if the death rates drop (people are going slower), then they have to take them out because they are not needed any more. Settled in Melbourne, started looking around for a house, maybe. My residency visa came through a few weeks ago (just a few weeks before they have apparently almost shut down the program, visa grants down by 80%), had a quick week in a camper van in NZ, then picked up the visa and re-entered the country on it. Spent two weeks looking for a job and got a pretty good offer, I start on Monday. A tiny company of 8 people. Working after 10 months, I wonder how that will be. The economy is pretty crap and so many of the other interviews were bleak or just promises of jobs that might surface in a week or two. GF got a good job too, 3 days a week, bumped her up to 4 days for the next 6 weeks a few weeks later, then goes full time in July. Saw some cool bands in town, getting to know the scene better. In my hospice experience there are two levels aggressive and palliative. Simple example is Pneumonia. Either case there is a need for someone trustworthy watching out for the patient's interest. FWIW I've had patients where the family members would steal and sell pain meds. I certainly strongly agree with that. That trustworthy person is much more important than the 'paperwork', but they do need paperwork in case someone starts arguing with them about who or what is in charge. One big advantage to hospice -- at least contrasting the functionality of the creature 'hospice' as it is found in CA vs the creature 'hospital' -- generally a 'normal' acute care hospital, which is where people go from nursing homes or assisted living or whatever when they are 'sicker' than can be accommodated -- is that you can actually *be* in a hospice and not be receiving IVs or oxygen or other such that are delivered parenterally or by 'tubes'. If you are in a hospital and you are in the process of dying, but you have requested to not receive those 'tubes' to prolong your death, you are not allowed to stay in the hospital, even tho' you are totally unable to take care of yourself. You have to leave, because you aren't receiving any of the care that is the intention or mission of the acute care hospital. Even if your death is expected to be imminent. I realize that a hospice is a much better place to be if you are dying, imminently or not so imminently, but sometimes it seems that a 'normal' hospital could act a little more hospice-ish when appropriate. -- Mike Easter kibitzer, not SC admin From me at privacy.net Thu May 14 10:52:34 2009 From: me at privacy.net (Frog Prince) Date: Thu May 14 12:30:03 2009 Subject: [Scsocial] Re: We're back. That's the idea actually. The whole intent of this movie was to reboot the series and start over from scratch with something new and fresh. Officially, the last 40 years of Star Trek is over. > > idk if I read more into his part and the story line behind it than I should > be reading into it, but I think that an unexplained leap that far away from > what most ST fans have come to know and enjoy would have been disastrous to > the movie's perception by the viewers... > There are of course a fair number of hardcore fans who are livid at what the movie did to the ST canon. They are all over message boards trying to rationalize it and keep existing ST canon working alongside the new movie. They can't accept that it's just all gone now. Personally I'm glad it was rebooted. The old ST was getting stale and boring, now it's exciting again. I actually saw it twice in the same weekend and was entertained both times. That doesn't normally happen with a movie. Lots of other "non-hardcore" fans are the same way. They feel this is a breath of fresh air and will bring life back to the series. I agree. On a related note: One of the issues that rabid ST fans are bringing up is the size of the new Enterprise. In TOS she was a tad under 300m long. In the new movie, she's nearly 800m long. For comparison, that's longer than the Enterprise D or the Enterprise E. The new ship is actually half the size of an Imperial Stardestroyer, and very heavily armed. In fact most Starfleet ships in the new movie have been upsized...even the dinky little USS Kelvin is bigger than the old Enterprise with more than double the crew compliment. It makes sense that a warship would be large and armed to the teeth, and yet many hardcore Trek fans are upset about it. They want a smaller, less defended ship. And that's just one of the many nitpicks I've read about the movie. It is a film about a fictional universe. Everybody was always just making stuff up as they went along. It isn't sacred. The part that made me gag a little bit was the glossy swooping shots of sexy spaceships and all that stuff of look we brought back Nimoy and let's gaze lovingly at him and isn't it wonderful and don't you love us? At least it wasn't as saccharine as that one where they were all singing campfire songs while they were camping. Besides being a bit syrupy, the old Spock was just a bit too much Basil Exposition, way too much telling and not enough just showing. Saying that you can't come up with a good Star Trek movie without redoing the universe is like saying writing a good sonnet is impossible because you were too constrained by the structure. It is probably easier to rip it all apart and start over, but I'm sure it is possible to do it. Or maybe it isn't possible in Hollywood. > One of the issues that rabid ST fans are bringing up is the size of the > new Enterprise. In TOS she was a tad under 300m long. No reason to be upset though, it could very well be that the warships were larger before Kirk's enterprise came on the scene in the original series and when we weren't in a position to have to fight very often the ships were downsized, yet in this reality, there was no need to downsize after the kelvin incident because of the threat that such an attack was still possible, and the building of the Enterprise in this "new" timeline as a bigger, more fight oriented ship as opposed to a ship whose primary function was exploration makes perfect sense... all in all, I think they did a great job of it and payed the proper respect to the original series as well.. all the peices just fell into place for me... I consider sociology an '-ology' - study of - not a science in the sense of 'real' or formal sciences as math or logic, and not a science in the sense of the natural sciences, strong in the disciplines of the "scientific method", but instead to belong to the soft mushy squishy 'social sciences' an anachronism, because these studies pretend to use quasi-scientific tools such as warped statistical devices and arbitrary structures to try to get impose kind of 'discipline' or order into the chaos of the humanities. As far as my UNUM LTD benefits go, I'm still getting them pending evaluation of my BP levels by my physician next Monday. They look ok on paper when you plot the averages, but I'm still having huge spikes up and down. Hopefully he will increase my dosage and buy me another month of benefits since it's not clear that the present dosage is working ok when you look at the spikes. Because at one point I stupidly "took ownership" of the "Docs and Settings" directory, which is normally off limits even for admins. I then deleted some directories that looked like app data x infinity (recursive directories ad infinitum). That was just the start....I fiddled with things without fully knowing what I was doing and ended up corrupting the MBR or reg file or something to the point that the machine was barely functional. Today, I did manage to find the fix for FF3 and the Ameritrade Streamer app (FF3 would crash when I attempted to run it, there are multiple coding errors in Amtrade's Javascript). I found a new update for Java, installed it, and Voila! Everything was hunky dory. My machine is now back to it's blazingly fast original shape, and I'm being VERY careful about what tweaking apps I add and what I do with them. And I'm going to leave the Docs and Settings directory alone this time ;-) Hell, I even discovered how to delete Lightscribe from my machine today -- Hallelujah! It doesn't show up in ANY apps uninstall menu, you have to update to the new version, which includes an uninstaller, finally! I think real IMAX uses 60 frames/second, compared to 24 for normal film. The original source for ST was probably 24. 24 is just enough to trick your eye into thinking there is motion (established years ago as a compromise between keeping costs down but enough to make films work) whereas 60 is more then enough for your brain to think it is reality. The 'box' or 'protector' was in use for very many years before the helmet was eventually introduced in the 1970's. Before the 'box', I think players would use a spare pair of socks for protective padding - but that unnecessarily aroused expectations amongst the spectators, some of whom were ladies. Anyway, I think you may have happened upon something of a truism here. BTW Tony Greig's pioneering foray into hardened haberdashery made it to No. 1 in 'The Age' list of cricketing headgear - http://www.theage.com.au/news/Sport/The-Ten/2005/01/01/1104345035748.html Whether or not the bits hanging off *either* end of that Jaapie's torso deserved protection is another question, but evidently he thought they did. But not crap for cricket (though just when the box/protector was first introduced seems lost in the mists of time - but the intro of the helmet is well enough documented, and remembered, at least at the first-class level of the game). Interestingly, there were probably-generally more fatalities from fast balls to the chest than to the head (especially amongst very young players without the muscle/fat over the heart region) but even chest padding was a relatively recent innovation compared to the 'box'. This an awfully long road on which to take a simple gag yet elements of truth are there. Just a different game. Lian > greeted Chen with a handshake, then pushed him off the bridge, Last year a would be jumper caused the total closure of the main bridge (On Hwy 1) from Vancouver to the North (the only other bridge is a 3 lane(total) from Downtown) for some 6-8 hours as rescuers talked the suicide hopeful down. (I'm sure google can find references). http://www.google.com/search?q=Closure+of+Second+Narrows+Bridge Many people from the North Shore missed Flights, Medical appointments, many from the Fraser Valley were unable to make the ferries to Vancouver Island that day. The freeway (Hwy 1) from the east was jammed for some 70 miles by the end of this "Drama". I'd be willing to bet this sad case caused more than one death among those who failed to get medical help or other similar reasons due to the ensuing gridlock. (Greater Vancouver has some 2 MM people) So, to be honest, I think the bypasser may deserve a cheer. We have had similar situations around here when the closure of two freeways both ways, the upper one for the jumper and would be negotiators and the lower one for the would-be impact zone snarled rush hour traffic for many hours. The article sez "Police took Lian away after the incident, Xinhua said. It did not say whether he would face any charges." DFW (Texas) has/had a number of red light cameras. All but one were a major drain on the city budget. The one that did make money had the local merchants complaining because people (and their money) avoided the area whenever they could. Did not help when someone was able to substantiate that the systems were gamed. One point was that making the yellow one second or so longer decreased violations and thus fines (and income) by a substantial factor. In some areas there have been discovery actions for the source code for speed, red light and radar that have shown major problems. Many years back I got a speed trap ticket that my attorney challenged based on the local police not having an FCC license to operate the speed gun. We won but the FCC rules were changes to a blanket license. Yes, I still need to retake that damn FCE test when my BP is under control so UNUM can decide what job(s) I can perform (any job). It's a bogus test for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia, so pointless in my case except for the pain it's likely to cause. Believe it or not, my acupuncturist finally cured my left elbow pain/tendonitis caused by the first (aborted) FCE test after 2 months of unsuccessful PT by placing these little Chinese stick-on magnets in a train from my neck down to my left shoulder. The shoulder muscle spasms are what kick off spasms in the rest of the left arm muscles that cause excruciating pain in my left elbow. That's the shoulder that hit the ground first when I fell off a stepstool last summer. I don't pretend to understand how the accupressure/magnet stuff works, but it does! I doubt the magnets have anything much to do with it, it's probably the acupressure points being accessed that are doing the job. Interestingly, I recently started several new drugs for my CFS symptoms, and one happens to also be a BP med. The first two BP meds didn't work well enough for me to safely retake the FCE test. The new BP med is lowering both my diastolic and systolic levels, whereas the first two only worked on one or the other. Unfortunately, since I was prescribed the med to treat my CFS symptoms by my Lyme doc, my regular phsyician, who is responsible for signing off on the safety of my re-taking the FCE test, won't budge from his stance of having me see a cardiologist ($$$). Hopefully, by the time I get around to making an appt., which likely will require a bit of a wait, I can show him the plots of my BP on the new med and he won't order any expensive tests. I'm in a major money conservation mode right now, dunno how much the MD health insurance plan is going to cost and/or if my current scripts will be covered by the scrip plan they offer. I won't be getting vision or dental, I'll just hope nothing catastrophic happens before I'm able to work again. The other drugs/supplements I've started recently with immediate good results are NADH, NAD, and D-Ribose -- all are involved in mitochondrial cellular functions in the brain and muscles. The NAD in particular had an amazing effect, I haven't had a "brain fog" issue since I started it. I just started the D-Ribose two days ago, and it takes up to 3 weeks to see results (increased muscle energy, stamina, and brain function), but I've already learned not to take it after 5-6 pm or it will keep me awake all night long! I think we're finally zeroing in on what still ails me -- the 3rd stage of Lyme disease invades the cell walls of tissues and interferes with proper mitochondrial functions. I'm doing better recently than I have in nearly a year, so hopefully the improvements will continue and I can start looking for a real job (ugh!). There is a natural detox product I've taken several times with amazing results, albeit short term since I still carried the Lyme disease bacteria. The one I have used is called "Nutriclean", an all natural body cleansing product aimed at the digestive system, the liver, and the colon. It's a seven day program, and sorry, you'll have to give up your beer, there are some dietary restrictions you need to follow to get the maximum results. But in my experience, it works very well. I strongly disagree with fasting as a means to accomplish anything to improve your health, your body will respond to the lack of nutrients and fats and react in the opposite manner of which you probably want it to do, unless it's a long term fast, which will make you dangerously sick. For instance, not eating or skipping meals normally leads to a weight GAIN as your body tries to store every bit of fat you consume for future access and use. In my experience, it is also a 'conditioning' -- just like our cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculature systems become 'conditioned' to regular and aerobic exercise by developing a more efficient heart and blood vessels and lung capacity and glycogen storage in the muscles which also become more fit and toned and strong, a better overall performance machine -- the fasting 'acquaints' us (our mind and our body) with hunger signals and how we 'react' to them. And well, dare I say, as "we" get older, the metabolism sort of tanks anyway, and yeah, a cup of sugar a couple of times a day would sort of really pack on the pounds. Widdershins doesn't sound like it could possibly have any calories, like, at all. Question: How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans And Southern Republicans? The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Glock cal .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus. Republican's Answer: BANG! Southern Republican's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! If the guys asking X , and the price seems reasonable for the location, quality etc. I'll offer X-10% to X-20% and we generally settle between 5 and 15% below asking. In this real estate market you should be able to have more leverage. I don't understand a market where a months worth of repairs and paint can be flipped for 100K profit, except a really hot market, like the one that brought on the notion that all you have to do is get into the market, make a couple of payments and get out with enough profit to by a house you can afford. Namely the market that drove us into the mortgage mess. Anyway a few years ago Vancouver (not Washington) was like you described, people were paying more than the asking price, which I never understood. In Canada houses are sold as is, there are almost no contingencies, except for obtaining financing, but it seems to me if one walks in with cash, you can't be refused for meeting an asking price, without exceeding it unless the sale is announced as an auction. We've made 6 offers on various houses, : ranging from 340k to 365k. This week we made an offer on a house that was : listed for 339k. We offered them 355k. They came back with a counter offer : accepting ours and laying out various things like when contingencies will : expire, when escrow will close, that they'll pay for a termite inspection : and so on. We sent that signed counter back to them yesterday at noon. : Still haven't heard anything. They bought this house a month ago for : 247k and cleaned it up, painted it and flipped it. I dont mind paying : someone else a fair price for making a place nice but this is absurd in : what is supposedly a very dodgy real estate market. You'd never know it : from what's going on here though, competition for houses is fierce, people : are making stupid offers and are almost guaranteed to be underwater by this : time next year. If it were just up to me, I'd back out of it for the time : being and wait for this supposed 'tsunami' of foreclosures to hit the : market. Banks are holding onto a huge inventory and at some point they're : going to have to sell them. It would seem you are letting 'i gotta have a house' override your bargaining position. You're complaining about the short sale delays etc. I'd set a drop dead date (short) on the entire project and let it slide. FWIW Dallas and Houston seem to be in much better shape than much of the rest of the country. I have friends that are doing purchase/repairs/flips and are doing well in both markets. Part of their deal is time limits which put the onus on the seller and the banks. If the bank/owner/etc. miss the dead line and come back later their offer drops.
