Yes, those are good reasons and there are others. File permissions on
NTFS (different levels of access rights) make it more secure, for one.
I chose to stay with FAT because NTFS is officially undocumented and I
want to allow other operating systems to be able to read and write my
drives. It is only recently that some Linux systems are able to write
to NTFS and I'm not fully confident that they can safely do it.
FAT is simple, fully documented and I'm very familiar with its
structure. Knowing how to manipulate it at sector/cluster level with a
utility for that purpose (Norton's Diskedit) has got me out of trouble
on a few occasions.
