Of course, first place I looked. I even deleted every cookie associated
with the site in question and still no joy.

Ok <grump> I'll gargle it......found the fix here, it uses a
"bookmarklet" to fix the problem (never heard of them), apparently this
site added code to disallow browsers from saving passwords and this
little app bypasses the code. Found it here:
