Interesting solution.

Something that's puzzling me - is there any reason to reject viruses at all
(as opposed to simply silently dropping them)?  After all, the sender (by
which I mean the infected user) isn't going to get any kind of notification.

I can't see that rejecting at SMTP time saves downloading the message as you
have to download the message to scan it.
